Overview
Florida A&M University pursues quantum research through the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, which it operates jointly with Florida State University. Its researchers work across quantum computing, communication, and sensing, drawing on the college's strengths in cryogenics, materials, optics, and high magnetic fields.

Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
A center at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering supporting interdisciplinary research across physics, materials science, computer science, and engineering, with access to an IBM quantum computer and dedicated labs for nanofabrication and quantum chip design. Slated to open in spring 2026 at Innovation Park in Tallahassee.
NSF ExpandQISE program
Co-directors Bayaner Arigong and Wei Guo each received $5 million NSF ExpandQISE Track II awards — two of only five made nationally at that level — supporting work on microwave quantum integrated chips and mid-scale quantum systems for sensing and securing AI models.
